Idahoans, Al Gore is Coming to Town January 22, 2007

January 15, 2007

According to www.ktvb.com “Tickets for former Vice President Al Gore’s Jan. 22 speech at the Taco Bell Arena sold out by 3 p.m., the first day they became available. A total of 10,000 seats were available for the address. Of those, 785 went to Boise State University students, and the Frank Church Institute has set aside 2,000 student tickets for when students return to class next week.”

It will be interesting to hear what Al has to say. If anyone has a recording or transcript of his speech please let me know.

I wonder if we’ll see him face off against Mitt during the first Presidential Debates in April.

Mitt Romney’s Father Grew up in Idaho

January 15, 2007

According to deseretnews and www.utahnsformitt.com Jon Huntsman said “his late father-in-law, Elder David B. Haight, who was a member of the LDS Church’s Quorum of the Twelve, grew up in Idaho (Oakley) with Romney’s late father, former Michigan Gov. George Romney.”

“Romney’s father and mother were family friends for half a century, Huntsman said. ‘They were almost like my own parents,’ he said, adding he was one of the earliest supporters of George Romney’s brief presidential bid in 1972.’”

Ann Romney, The Ideal First Lady

January 15, 2007

Like many of the First Ladies in the past, Ann Romney has a certain modest yet noble character that I believe resonates with Americans.

Ann Davies Romney was born on 1949, married Mitt in 1969, and has had five sons. As the First Lady of Massachusetts, she has volunteered to work with the New England Chapter of the MS Society, a disease she was diagnosed with in 1998. While Mitt was Governor, Ann served as a co-chair of the Faith and Action Committee, a committee aimed to bring churches together to help serve young people. She has also served on other boards that focus on education, athletics, women’s cancer, community service, and improving the lives of our nation’s youth (just to mention a few). Above all, she is a woman of faith, a mother of love, and a wife of unfailing support.

What do you think, is Ann Mitt’s secret weapon?

First Presidential Debates Coming in April

January 15, 2007

According to www.blog.edlectromneyin2008.com and www.cnn.com on April 4 and 5, Mitt Romney and the other Presidential candidates will get their first crack at explaining to America why they should be the next President of the United States.

“CNN’s Wolf Blitzer will moderate the debates with questions coming from WMUR’s Scott Spradling and Union Leader’s John DiStaso. WMUR’s Jennifer Vaughn will be moderating questions from the audience. The debate will be televised live nationally on CNN and throughout New Hampshire on WMUR.”

“’We are thrilled to provide our viewers with the information to make the most informed decision possible when they are voting in their presidential primaries or caucusing,’ said CNN/U.S. president Jon Klein.”

“New Hampshire, a crucial proving ground for 2008 candidates, will be the first state to cast votes in the Republican and Democratic presidential primaries. Republican and Democratic candidates have been visiting the Granite State since the conclusion of the 2004 presidential election in an effort to woo these influential voters in 2008.”

“’We think it only makes sense that the state with the first-in-the-nation primary also has the first-in-the-nation presidential debate,’ said Jeff Bartlett, WMUR general manager. ‘Many candidates and potential candidates have already made numerous trips to New Hampshire, and we felt that April would be a good time for the voters here to get their first impression about how the candidates stack up against one another.’”

“Joseph W. McQuaid, president and publisher of the Union Leader, said, ‘The issues facing the next administration are as crucial as they have ever been for this country. It is not too early for the first primary state to present a forum to explore the views and the competence of serious candidates.’”
